About

Zoe Wong is a Chinese-Australian filmmaker and visual artist based in Sydney.

Her art practice explores her mixed-race heritage and queer identity through photographic appropriation and mixed-media installation. Her work examines the complexities of popular culture's influence on perceptions of race and identity. Zoe describes her practice as "De-Orientalising", where she interrogates and dismantles Western constructions of the East.

As a writer/director, Zoe develops character-driven stories that explore identity, belonging, and cultural hybridity, with a focus on amplifying the experiences of the Asian diaspora and Queer communities.

In 2016, Zoe completed a Bachelor of Design in Photography and Situated Media (Honours) at the University of Technology Sydney. In 2017, she was awarded the Galeries Emerging Artist Award, and her work has been exhibited at galleries across Australia, including Sydney, Brisbane & Melbourne.

Zoe is currently completing a Masters of Arts Screen: Directing at the Australian Film Television and Radio School (AFTRS).
