Half Brother

Half brother, I remind people
But sometimes I wonder
Why does it matter?
The quiet ping on my phone
Only reminds me of our distance
Sparsely, sparingly,
Not at all
Jokes are lost between the cracks
Riddled in our conversations
I read everything you write and yet
I still don’t understand
Do you know what I'm trying to say?
My big brother - now without legs
Once upon a time you told me to stand tall
Over the din of our distance
This is what I must remember
That we still hold half of one another
And half is more than none.
